donations update + nighttown series
$333.65 raised to donate to CDC’s food drive!
Hi friends and family,
It has been a little over two weeks since I initially launched this project. I wanted to give you all a quick update on Chinatown Community Development Center’s Fee + Fuel Chinatown 2.0 donations. In total you all have raised $333.65! It’s so amazing to think that these photographs of Chinatown could have amounted in hundreds of dollars being able to go towards the Chinatown community to not only support local restaurants but also help low income families with meals.
I am super excited to announce a new series on Chinatown! I present Nighttown.
100% of net profits will go directly to Chinatown Community Development Center’s Fee + Fuel Chinatown 2.0! You can read up on how that money is distributed here.
I took these photos the night before Lunar New Year’s Eve. What usually would have been a night of cheers and celebration has been replaced with a calm and silent air of reflection. This was just weeks after the attacks on elders in San Francisco. The fog was already rolling in as I looked up at the lanterns that lit the streets, occasionally swaying in the gusts of wind. It was walking through Chinatown that night when I decided to build this website and begin this project. I hope these photos also bring you the same sense of calm, stillness, and reflection as it brought me.
